What are the top requirements to qualify for this position?
Qualifications and Requirements:
 
  • 4+ years designing and implementing large scale software systems
  • Proficiency with one or more of Python or Java
  • Experience developing backend server systems, including web services, scheduled processes, and reporting dashboards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team Player
  • Highly motivated and self-directed – a doer focused on practical solutions
 
Bonus Points for experience with any of the following:
 
  • Platform as a service (PaaS) systems such as Google App Engine, Heroku, or Azure
  • Hadoop, Pig, and map-reduce Social media Web APIs for collecting data (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Yelp, etc)
  • MySQL or NoSQL systems Scalable, multi-tier, distributed systems
  • Experience developing data visualization or analytics dashboards using Web technologies
  • Scalable, realtime event processing
 
Education:
 
  • BS in Computer Science, engineering, or related field. MS or PhD preferred
Why is this position open?

We have doubled revenues year over year since inception and are looking now to expand our team significantly.

Describe the current team this person will join, including the reporting structure.

Due to growth the team keeps evolving including the addition of 2 Senior Software Engineers, both with start-up experience. 

This role, depending on experience, will either report to a Senior Engineer/Lead or directly to Management.

What percentage of the candidate's time will be spent on existing products/business, versus items that are new?

70% on new products/ 30% on existing
