What are the top requirements to qualify for this position?
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in developing web UI applications
- Significant experience in developing AJAX-enabled web applications
- Experience with coding in Java
- Experience in coding standards-compliant semantic markup in HTML/CSS
- Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Dojo, etc.
- Experience developing in OO and MVC architectures
- A passion for writing super optimized and clean code
- Knowledge of Spring MVC, distributed computing a strong plus

We believe that a new era in enterprise data management is upon us. Cloudera’s products and services, built on the open source Apache Hadoop platform, will fundamentally change the economics of data warehousing, processing, analysis and business intelligence.
We are adding to our team in order to fullfil that vision.
Describe the current team this person will join, including the reporting structure.
Our enterprise engineering team has approximately 20 people with 3 of those being UI engineers.
Our UI team consists of engineers that are A-players that can handle several facets of technology. We follow scrum methodologies and have 2 week sprints with a review.
The reporting structure is flat, with all engineers reporting to the Director, Engineering.
What percentage of the candidate's time will be spent on existing products/business, versus items that are new?
The primary focus of our work is new development. As mentioned, we do 2 week sprints with a review at the end of each.
We like to bring customers in to give us feedback during review sessions in addition to peer feedback.
What challenges will this person face on a daily basis?
Helping our users make sense of the deluge of performance and management data that we gather from their Apache Hadoop clusters isn't easy. Cloudera is looking for front-end developers who are able to conceive of and build exciting, meaningful and - above all - useful visualisations that distill our knowledge of Hadoop into something you don't need a PhD in distributed systems to understand.
You'll work on our entire suite of customer-facing applications, joining our small team of outstanding front-end engineers, and every day you'll be solving the presentation and interaction problems that crop up only when dealing with systems of Hadoop's scale. We'll be impressed by your taste in clean and elegant user interfaces, your experience in building exceptional UIs for web applications, and your ability to write high-quality, maintainable and efficient code.
